Feb. 13--Revisionism and theater have a checkered history. Certainly it has worked in some places -- the salacious re-imagining of "Cabaret," for example, worked well, but perhaps that was what John Kander and Fred Ebb had in mind when they wrote it. And you can attend any Shakespeare festival to see the good, bad and ugly of revisionism -- when it works, it can be wonderful; when it doesn't, you can just hope the snack bar has a nice wine and cheese platter ready at intermission.
And all that is a roundabout way to get to Town Hall Theatre's somewhat redesigned production of Noel Coward's "Design for Living," a 1933 play about ...
