Lane Community College and other community colleges in Oregon serve a neglected majority. These are the people who, without post-high school education, won't qualify for 90 percent of the fastest-growing, better-paying jobs.
Oregon's community colleges have served these people successfully for more than 40 years. But now the community colleges are the sector of Oregon's education system that is being neglected, and nowhere more profoundly than in the state budget.
Two-year state colleges serve about 350,000 students annually, including 36,000 at LCC. Yet state funding has declined ...
