Janice Elder, of Charlotte, N.C., recently won the $5,000 grand prize in the Quaker Oats "For Your Heartthrob" Recipe Contest for her caramel-topped cheesecakes with a crunchy, oat-pecan crust.
Elder entered the contest in the "Seductive Sweets" category. She combined three of her favorites - oats, salted caramels and cheesecake - to create delicious miniature delights. Her husband was the tester and taster.
Karen Tedesco, of Webster Groves, Mo., won first prize and $2,000 in the "Breakfast in Bed" category with Italian Orange-Almond Oat Crunch Muffins. She combined two recipe ideas - one for her grandmother's orange-almond cake, the other a ...
