Northrop Grumman briefed DoD officials Tuesday on a new, fixed-price for additional B-2 bombers, but both the company and the Pentagon yesterday stressed that there is neither a requirement, nor funding, currently available for such a proposal.
Northrop Grumman, which produces the B-2 Stealth bomber, was tasked by DoD to offer by Nov. 10 a firm-fixed-price for the purchase of an additional 20 aircraft. The company complied, offering a sustainable low-rate production of two to three bombers a year for $11.4 billion, or $570 million per plane, company spokesman Ed Smith said yesterday.
