The steam rose gently from the frying pan as yet another chicken neared perfection. The fragrant aroma of the fresh corn and steamed vegetables filled the kitchen, a sign to all that dinner was close at hand. My youngest, a mere 12-going-on-30, entered the kitchen to check on dinner's progress, her beautiful blue eyes as big as saucers. "Smells good Dad, what's for dinner?" "Grilled chicken, veggies, and apple pie!" I responded proudly. "Chicken ... again?" My heart sank but I knew deep inside that she was right. Easy and cheap to raise, chicken had become the mainstay for the family. The kids were tired of chicken and, to tell the truth, so was I.
