Feb. 15--The environmental impact assessments (EIA) for nine new industrial projects in the Map Ta Phut area must go ahead despite the current controversy over the extent of pollution they could cause, according to the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning.

The scrutiny of the nine projects proposed for the industrial estate in Rayong, mostly petrochemical ventures, cannot be stopped once the papers have been submitted because they will be automatically approved if the scrutiny misses the deadlines.
