Feb. 16--Oklahoma had the fifth-highest prevalence of heart disease in the nation, according to a study released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The research was the first of its kind to break down the percentage of the population in each state to have been diagnosed with specific heart problems.
"Eighty percent of heart disease is preventable. That means controlling risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking," said Kim Cash, spokeswoman for the American Heart Association in Tulsa.
