Unions oppose merger of SBI, associate banks

Mumbai, Feb 15 (PTI) Workmen unions and officers' associations of the State Bank of India and its associate banks have expressed their opposition to what they call "attempts of the management to consider the merger of the associate banks with SBI" "Our stand is that the associate banks should continue to function as independent banks and the State Bank management should give full autonomy to the associate banks," the All India Co-ordination Committee of Workmen Unions & Officers Associations in State Bank of India and Associate Banks, said in a statement here today.
