Recreation boat sales sputtering nationally: Industry official cites correlation to home prices.

Feb. 17--Sales of recreational boats nationwide declined in 2006 and are expected to be down again or flat for 2007, according to Thom Dammrich, head of the country's largest association of boat and marine equipment makers. The recreational marine industry plays a key role in South Florida's economy. It generates tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs and has a total economic impact of about $14 billion annually in the tri-county area.
