Feb. 18--LAKELAND -- George Bancroft headlined a pair of champions from Jupiter Christian at the State Wrestling Championships at The Lakeland Center on Saturday. Bancroft's victory at 152 pounds in Class 1A was his third in three years. But his 3-2 win in overtime against Ivan Loupashankiy of Cardinal Gibbons wasn't without controversy.
In the extra time, Cardinal Gibbons coach Frank Pettineo argued with officials that his wrestler should have been given a point when Bancroft (48-2) was called for an apparent third stall. The point was never awarded and Bancroft got the victory. "I had the crap scared out me," Bancroft ...
