OVER seventy years of tobacco industry ownership by one of Hawkes Bays largest commercial and industrial properties is about to end as a result of British American Tobacco New Zealand Ltd's decision to sell its 4.6 ha site in Napier.
Located in the developing Ahuriri district, the property comprises 33 separate titles and also contains one of Napier's most iconic and widely recog-nised buildings, the heritage-listed National Tobacco Company building.
The property was formerly used to manufacture tobacco products but with British American Tobacco relocating its production operation to Sydney last year, the property is now surplus to requirements.
