The former sheriff of Wall Street has staked out a strong claim as the new sheriff of State Street.
In a conversation with Gannett editorial writers and reporters this week, Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who picked up the "sheriff" nickname when he, as attorney general, was criticizing, suing, and otherwise making life miserable for some investment firms and insurance companies, made his case that Wall Street has more in common with the state Capitol than you might think.
