World renowned actor Sidney Poitier recently was elected to the board of directors of Walt Disney Co., it was announced by the organization's chairman in Burbank, CA.

Michael D. Eisner, chairman and chief executive officer at Disney, said Poitier will complete the term of Disney president Frank Wells, who died in April in a helicopter crash in Nevada.
