World renowned actor Sidney Poitier recently was elected to the board of directors of Walt Disney Co., it was announced by the organization's chairman in Burbank, CA.
Michael D. Eisner, chairman and chief executive officer at Disney, said Poitier will complete the term of Disney president Frank Wells, who died in April in a helicopter crash in Nevada.
Poitier, 67, the first Black actor to be a leading man in mainstream films, won an Academy Award in 1963 for Lilies of the Field and was nominated for an Oscar for Defiant Ones in 1958. He will serve the term until ...
