Dec. 5--Richard Nelson, executive director of the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute since 1989 when it was spun off from the Greater Minnesota Corp., has resigned effective Dec. 15. Tom Jorgens, president of the Metadynamics consulting firm at Crookston, Minn., will serveas acting director of Crookston-based AURI.
AURI is a non-profit corporation created by the state to assist rural Minnesota in developing new agricultural-based products. Nelson said Friday he hasn't made future plans but is exploring possible positions with the new generation of cooperatives being formed in Minnesota and the Dakotas.
