Feb. 21--Buoyed by the results of an online test in the United Kingdom, Kayak.com, a Norwalk-based travel search engine, said yesterday that its U.K Internet domain, Kayak.co.uk, is open for business. The launch followed a highly successful test period where the number of people hunting for the best air fares doubled in the Web site's first four weeks, said Steve Hafner, Kayak.com's co-founder and chief executive officer. According to comScore Media Metrix, Kayak.co.uk generates more traffic than more established online travel-search providers such as Travelocity and Orbitz.
