Vocational rehabilitation assists people with disabilities in preparing for, beginning, and keeping employment. One of the oldest programs in which state funds are matched by federal funds, vocational rehabilitation began in 1920 with the passage of the Civilian Vocational Rehabilitation Act, which encouraged states to provide rehabilitation services to veterans with disabilities. Today, vocational rehabilitation programs operate under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and its subsequent amendments. The following is a listing of state vocational rehabilitation services.
