Feb. 22--Dying didn't scare Geoffrey Stephenson, his parents said.

Stephenson worked as a funeral director and was a member of a Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster team that recovers bodies.

He just had one wish: That he wouldn't die of a gunshot wound.

But bullets from a Roanoke police officer's gun ended Stephenson's life early Saturday morning.

The officer shot 30-year-old Stephenson, who Commonwealth's Attorney Donald Caldwell said was armed with a sword and two guns, while trying to serve him Friday night with an emergency custody order.
