OTTAWA -- Medicine Hat, a southern Alberta city that already collects about US$43 million a year from the sale of natural gas it owns, now wants to cash in on a heavy oil field it controls.
The city, which owns the mineral rights to a large gas reservoir beneath the city, plans to auction off a heavy oil reserve it discovered within its boundaries in 1984.
