Article: Strong ANS prices fail to muffle interest in allowing exports. (Alaska North Slope petroleum)

WASHINGTON -- Remarks in Japan by Sen. Frank Murkowski (R-Alaska) have added fuel to the argument over whether to lift the ban on exports of Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude.

Murkowski included the subject in discussions with Japanese oil and trade officials. He told a Tokyo press conference that about 200,000 b/d of ANS will be available for export if Congress can be convinced in 1995 to lift the ban.

Relatively good prices for Alaska and California crudes for several months have failed to deter interest in ANS exports.
