Growing her idea Carol Crow, 41, a horticulturist and landscape designer, never set out to add "soap maker" to her resume. It happened unexpectedly when, in 1998, a few clients gave her thank-you gifts of homegrown herbs and Crow used them to try out a soap recipe that she'd seen online. Her batch yielded an astonishing 600 bars, which Crow gave to friends and family--and people started requesting more. "I even got a call from someone in Michigan who'd tried the soap at a friend's house when she was here in town," says Crow.
