The fight over the pit bulls locked up at the Dane County Humane Society shelter is not over, contrary to what officials announced last month.
Forty-seven pit bulls, including 25 that the Dane County Humane Society called dangerous and said would be euthanized, still live in cramped cages at the shelter because ownership of the dogs remains with Robert Lowery and Julie Dzikowich, the town of Dunn couple charged with instigating animal fights.
