For most people, the mention of "the NBA" prompts immediate thoughts of players such as Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson and other stars displaying their incredible basketball skills.
That's the usual picture. But for thousands of other African-Americans, "the NBA" is more likely to mean strikes, spares and the pursuit of a perfect 300-game.
