Feb. 23--A Minneapolis-based company has agreed to acquire Bend-based telecommunications firm United Communications Inc., also known as UNICOM, officials from both sides said Wednesday.
Eschelon Telecom Inc., a publicly traded telecommunications company which serves about 60,000 business customers in nine states, including Oregon, signed an agreement this week to purchase all of UNICOM's stock for $13.9 million.
The deal is expected to be completed before June 30, officials said.
