Feb. 25--WILLIAMSBURG -- For the Mathews High School academic team, Saturday was the culmination of months of practice and stiff competition.
The road led 24 teams to the Virginia High School League Scholastic Bowl state championship, competing in three groups at the College of William and Mary. In Mathews' first trip to the Scholastic Bowl state finals, it came away with third place in Group A.
