Alliant Techsystems [ATK] yesterday announced it has received an additional $284 million in orders for the production of small-caliber ammunition.
In addition, the company received $46 million for plant modernization. The modernization work is part of ATK's ongoing partnership with the Army to update the facility, which has been in continuous production since 1941, with only a five-year hiatus between the end of World War II and the start of the Korean conflict.
The contracts were issued by the Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island, Ill.
