St Kitts is the Caribbean island that tourism forgot, and until last year it was happy to stay that way. The centuries-old sugar industry kept St Kitts's economy going while her sister island, Nevis, lured the jet-set to exclusive resorts.
But last year, the sugar industry closed down altogether, leaving tourism the only option for this 69-square-mile island.
So St Kitts is having to carve a new tourism industry, learning from the mistakes of other islands while forging a seductive identity of its own. And as it does so, property is set to soar in value.
