Feb. 26--TOKYO -- NTT DoCoMo Inc. said Monday it has agreed to an operational tie-up with McDonald's Holdings Co. (Japan) on credit settlement services using its mobile phones in a move they hope will promote electronic marketing in Japan.
In a joint press conference, NTT DoCoMo, Japan's leading mobile carrier, said the business alliance will allow customers to use handsets with its "iD" platform for mobile-phone credit card functions at McDonald's 3,800 stores throughout Japan, starting in October.
The move comes as part of their efforts to jointly promote e-marketing based on NTT DoCoMo's "wallet phone" services.
