Vegrandis LLC of Fayetteville received a $150,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
The award is a Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer for developing carbon nanopipettes CNPs. The development of the devices resulted from a collaboration between Vegrandis and the University of Pennsylvania. CNPs are cone-shaped devices that can be used for medical diagnostics, fluid handling in screenings and biomedical research.
Once Phase I is complete, Vegrandis will be eligible to apply for additional research in Phases II and II-B and funding from the NSF of up to $1 million.
