Picking up on and consolidating the teenage Goth theme that has been kicking around for a few years, curators Alex Farquharson and Alexis Vaillant have conceived this exhibition entirely in relation to JK Huysmans' genre-defining novel A rebours (Against Nature) of 1884, in which a pallid Parisian aesthete shuts himself away from the world within a visionary home that was a blueprint for the decadent way of life.
