David Chipperfield Architects Ltd has been appointed to design the redevelopment of Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate. The original scheme by Snohetta + Spence was cancelled after spiralling costs (see AM294), as leader of Kent County Council Paul Carter comments: 'When the original plans were halted we made a promise to come back with a public meeting in eight weeks.
