Founding director of Baltic, Sune Nordgren resigned in August after only three years as director of the newly reorganised Oslo National Museum. Three months before Nordgren's appointment in 2003 four Norwegian State institutions were merged to form the National Museum (the National Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Architecture and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design) and an architectural competition for a new building has still been delayed (it should be announced this month).
