Feb. 27--Padaeng Industry Plc, the country's sole zinc miner, is looking for new deposits in Thailand and elsewhere in Southeast Asia as its mine in Mae Sot, Tak province, approaches the end of its lifespan.
"The local mines still have a life of around six to nine years, so the company is focusing on various exploration options in Southeast Asia," managing director Bernard Tonnon said yesterday.
Woratip Rerkphiboon, Padaeng's treasury manager, said the company held a licence from the Lao government and had been prospecting in an 800-square-kilometre area of Kasi district in Laos since late last year. It could be a ...
