While I was attending a social function last month, I met Francis Small, president and CEO of New Zealand Rail. Many of you already know that an affiliate of Wisconsin Central Limited Transportation Corp. made a significant investment when NZ Rail was privatized last year. WCTC people are on the NZ Rail board of directors, and two former WCTC officers handle the financial and operations jobs at NZ Rail under Small. "What was it like working with U.S. railroaders of the `regional' persuasion?" I asked.
