THE creation of animal-human embryos is a step closer to being approved after the Government's chief scientist backed the controversial research.
Sir David King said experiments on hybrid embryos could have 'massive impacts' on society, generating treatments for conditions from Alzheimer's to heart disease.
Experts at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority are also saying there is no ethical reason for banning such work, despite the Government previously opposing it.
A shortage of donated eggs is hampering research so scientists want to take them from animals, remove the genetic material and replace it ...
