Most Americans believe that global warming is a real but distant danger that falls behind other issues, such as the Iraq war, the economy and health care, in terms of urgency, according to a study conducted by a University of Oregon researcher.
Americans support investing in renewable energy, higher fuel economy standards and international treaties to address the issue of climate change, but oppose carbon taxes on energy sources that release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the study found.
