Mar. 1--Several Lehigh County commissioners expressed reservations Wednesday about tapping $5.5 million in county funds to replace the Linden Street Bridge in Allentown, a deteriorating county bridge reduced to one lane in May 2005.
At their regular meeting, the commissioners said that, if the county is willing to wait a few years, it could save millions of dollars on the project. Ninety-five percent of the bill could be covered by state and federal grants.
But Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski said he wants immediate action.
