Mar. 1--E v e r y M o n d a y, t h e Schuylkill Valley swim team likes to eat dinner together. The preferred location is S. Kickers Saloon in Bern Township for its weekly wing night.
Besides all of the laps the Panthers have logged in the pool this winter, those trips to eat spicy chicken have helped form a bond among this year's group.
"We have a smaller team than usual, but we're closer," said senior Josh Pauley.
Usually underdogs this season, Schuylkill Valley finished with a 5-8 dual-meet record. However, the Panthers have come away with a closeness that influenced Pauley in making a selfless decision.
