The Tesla Roadster is not the only electric car attracting interest in the US. California company ZAP (Zero Air Pollution) has produced the concept ZAP-X, also based on Lotus technology.
While the Tesla's structure is based on that of the Lotus Elise, the ZAP concept borrows Lotus's advanced APX chassis, which shows off the firm's Versatile Vehicle Architecture.
It was first revealed at the Geneva motor show last year in the concept APX (Aluminium Performance Crossover), a seven-seater with off-road capability.
