Mar. 1--Divided on the selection of a new executive director, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry has scheduled a March 16 retreat to look at the hiring in a different light.
Thirty-six voting members of the chamber's board of directors will be invited and asked to define the chamber's mission in coming years. The presumption is that the board will then match that mission to the qualifications of the three finalists, to see who would be the best fit.
The chamber has been receiving some criticism for taking too long to choose a replacement for Steve Barrouk, who resigned in August after 18 years ...
