Monte Ahuja formed Transtar Industries four weeks after graduating from Cleveland State University in 1975. Through nearly 30 years of growth, Transtar burgeoned into an international business with operations in 25 cities and sales in 60 countries. Ahuja diversified Transtar by adding Nichols Performance Co. and Transtar Autobody Technologies.
In 1991, James Biggar formed Glencairn Corp., a residential/commercial development company on family-owned land between Cleveland and Akron.
