Virgin Retail is to launch a new paid search platform after underperforming in paid search rankings.
The move is intended to increase the pressure on sector rivals HMV, Play.com and Amazon.
Virgin this week announced that it's to overhaul its web presence in 2007, but NMA understands the entertainment retailer is to update its paid search structure prior to that.
In the two months since Christmas Virgin Megastores hasn't performed as well as HMV, Amazon and Play for keywords like 'CD' and 'DVD'. While those three regularly feature at the top of sponsored links, Virgin's visibility hasn't been strong.
