Citigroup announced over the weekend that it has hired Gary Crittenden as Citi's new chief financial officer. Crittenden, who had been American Express Co.'s chief financial officer for the last six years, will replace Sallie Krawcheck, who held the job for the last two years. At AmEx, Crittenden served as a key advisor on strategic and financial matters worldwide, and represented AmEx to investors, lenders, and rating agencies. Prior to joining AmEx, Mr. Crittenden was chief financial officer of Monsanto from 1998 to 2000. He also served as chief financial officer for Sears Roebuck & Company from 1997 to 1998.
