ORCHARD WINS BIG
Less than a year old, Brookview Station Winery at Goold Orchards in Castleton took the grand prize last week in the third annual Hudson Valley Competition.
The competition was open to all commercial wineries in the Hudson Valley viticultural area using New York fruit, and, more specifically, Hudson Valley fruit. Brookview Station won the Cornell Cup, signifying "the best Hudson Valley region wine," for its 2006 semidry apple wine called Whistle Stop White. There were 72 wines entered in 13 categories.
Whistle Stop White also took a gold medal in its category, and another entry from Brookview Station - Oh, What a Pear pear wine ...
