The tea markets in Europe exhibit highly diverse consumption patterns. In general, the markets of Northern Europe, notably the U.K., Ireland, and the Netherlands are black tea markets. In the Middle and Southern European markets, herbal teas play a much greater role, although overall consumption is significantly lower.
The highly developed black tea markets have seemingly reached maturity and consumption is stagnating or in decline, while those markets with significant herbal tea shares continue to show growth.
