Client/server computing isn't for everyone, the president of a technology firm told insurance company information systems officials recently.
"My advice to you is to seriously examine the goals you have set for moving to client/server" before getting off the mainframe, said Richard Finkelstein, president of Links Technology Corp. in Chicago.
Speaking at the annual information systems conference of Des Plaines, Ill.-based National Association of Independent Insurers in Scottsdale, Ariz., Mr. Finkelstein advised the IS officials to set up a list of expected benefits from such a move "and then build up very slowly."
