The purpose of this study was to identify the principal risk factors associated with development of selected chronic diseases, and develop targeted educational strategies designed to prevent and/or control these diseases among adults who seek health services from a selected hospital in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Hypertension is a major chronic disease that has a social and economic impact in Mexico. Much of this is associated with being overweight, a condition affecting an estimated 34% of the adult population over 24 years of age in Juarez.
