IN mid-December 2006, press releases from both privately held Cambridge Information Group (CIG) and public company ProQuest (PQ) announced that CIG had agreed to acquire the ProQuest Information and Learning (PQIL) segment of PQ for about $222 million. CIG intends to combine its Bethesda, Md.-based CSA (formerly known as Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) unit with Ann Arbor, Mich.-based PQIL. Martin (Marty) Kahn will become CEO of the new company and intends to move to Ann Arbor. Matt Dunie will become the president, reporting to Kahn, but will remain in Bethesda.
