Mar. 6--SCOTIA -- Students in Peggy Gillen's second-grade class at Lincoln Elementary School are so polite, they say "thank you" in unison to their computer every hour when it alerts them to the time. Talking to machines isn't the only unique characteristic that sets this class apart. The students recently began corresponding with a soldier stationed in Afghanistan, a country that most of the kids couldn't even pronounce before, let alone pinpoint on a map.
