Mar. 8--A 72-year-old Chicago man was killed when he walked into traffic and was struck by a car in a Cicero intersection, authorities said this morning.
The crash occurred around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday when William Woods, of the 600 block of South Kostner Avenue stepped off the curb at the intersection of 35th Street and Cicero Avenue, said Cicero town spokesman Dan Proft.
"He basically walked out into traffic, and a silver Ford Taurus tried to swerve to avoid him and couldn't," Proft said, hitting Woods on the passenger side front bumper.
Woods was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he died about a half hour later, ...
