Mar. 8--JEFFERSON CITY -- Fed up with waiting for his measure to come out of committee, state Rep. Jim Lembke, R-St. Louis County, said yesterday he will use "a nuclear option" to get an Amendment 2-related resolution up for a vote.

Lembke wants to overturn the recently passed constitutional amendment protecting embryonic stem cell research and add a ban on somatic cell nuclear transfer. The proposal has been stuck for weeks in the House Health Care Policy Committee, where Reps. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, and Jim Guest, R-King City have said they would vote against it.

A tie in the committee would kill the bill.
